The tarot has always been surrounded by mystery, and while there are many different theories on its origins, many people are fascinated by its ability to enlighten, guide, and inspire us. Of course I include myself; even after nearly 20 years of study and reading the cards, I can’t think of any subject that I’m more passionate about and more interested in than the tarot.
It seems that as time goes on, more and more people are interested in the tarot, and that’s a fantastic thing. If you fall into this category, I highly encourage you to delve into the tarot and let it reveal its mysteries to you. You will be glad you did!

Why should I pay for a tarot reading? It doesn't cost you anything to give it and the wisdom comes from the Divine, so why isn't a tarot reading free?
A prospective client recently asked this question. I do get it on occasion, and here are some of the answers I have given in the past.
· Tarot readings are not free because I am a professional who is providing a service you have requested. Professional service providers, like hairdressers, contractors, and lawyers, for example, charge a fee for their services. You would never think of asking an accountant to do your taxes for free, or for an auto mechanic to fix your car for free. I fall into the same category as those occupations I just mentioned, and as such I deserve the same courtesy. · Tarot readings are not free because this is my business. Not only are you paying for my time and expertise (21 years working with the tarot this August, if you're asking), but you are paying my business expenses. Some examples include: gas to drive my car to and from readings; tarot cards, books, and other learning materials to keep my skills sharp; fees to other service providers for this website, my tarot telephone line, and my credit card machine; and business licensing fees and office supplies. · Metaphysically speaking, nothing comes for free. If you have received something--in this case, knowledge--the Universe expects you to give something in return.
Personally, I look at this question as a tremendous sign of disrespect on the part of a prospective client. On the flip side, I am always gratified to hear people say, "When I can afford it, I'd love to get a reading from you." All of us go through problems with cash flow and I respect that.
The bottom line is that if you request a service, you need to be prepared to pay for it. If money is that much of an issue that you are upset at paying $20 for a tarot reading, then perhaps you should take that as a sign from the Universe that you should hold on to that money for something else.
Until we meet across my tarot table again...Blessed be!
