The Tarot has always been surrounded by mystery, and while there are many different theories on its origins, many people are fascinated by its ability to enlighten, guide, and inspire us. Of course I include myself; even after nearly 19 years of study and reading the cards, I can’t think of any subject that I’m more passionate about and more interested in than the Tarot.

It seems that as time goes on, more and more people are interested in the Tarot, and that’s a fantastic thing. If you fall into this category, I highly encourage you to delve into the Tarot and let it reveal its mysteries to you. You will be glad you did!

Do you have to be a particular religion to work with the Tarot?

Absolutely not! The wisdom that the Tarot provides to us is universal and you only need to listen to your inner voice when working with the cards to receive it. Certainly it takes practice and study to become sensitized to your own intuitive power, but the ability to tap into the Tarot’s wisdom is not limited to those of a particular religious group or groups.

With that said, however, I’ve noticed that people who are spiritual—and in this case, I mean those people who believe strongly in a higher power of some kind, no matter what it may be called—do well with the cards. For me, until I started my Witchcraft studies I struggled spiritually, and my Tarot skills didn’t develop as much as they could have before that time. However, it was through my study of the Craft and the faith that comes from that spiritual journey that I believe my Tarot skills improve with each passing day. In my life, the Tarot is a very spiritual activity that helps to deepen my relationship with the God and Goddess.

Unfortunately, despite all of the increased positive interest in metaphysical topics, like Witchcraft, astrology, gemstones, Reiki, palmistry, clairvoyance, and other forms of divination (like crystal balls), some religious groups still believe the Tarot to be somehow “evil”. I have never understood how people can feel this way, but it does happen, and when it does I feel incredibly sad. The Tarot is a positive experience that provides insight, guidance, and comfort to people of all faiths, and that is why I have a professional Tarot practice.

No matter what religious or spiritual path you follow, I ask you to judge the Tarot for yourself by having a Tarot reading or through your own study of the cards, rather than to blindly believe a blanket statement about the merits of this powerful tool without any personal experience with it. In doing so, I feel strongly that you will see the Tarot in a more positive light, or at the very least, you will have a little more understanding.

Thank you so much for stopping in. Please have a look around the site, and contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to seeing you across my Tarot table soon.

Blessed be! J2B
